EBSCO eBooks are largely non-fiction and academic in nature. However, there are a lot of books in this collection, so you may also find children's books, young adult literature, and adult fiction titles.
For assistance finding a specific book, reach out to a Jefferson College librarian.
Use the following links to ensure you can access, read, and download EBSCO eBooks:
As a Jefferson College user, you have access to a large collection of eBooks through the EBSCO eBooks database and the library's search tool, Discovery. Discovery allows you to search the Jefferson College Library catalog, EBSCO eBooks database, and additional eBook databases all at once -- just use the "Source Types" filter beneath the search bar to limit your results to eBooks. If you're planning to search these databases while off-campus, be sure to log in to your MyJeffco account before starting your search.
EBSCO eBooks can be viewed online via internet browser and most can be downloaded to your computer to be viewed offline. Depending on the book and publisher restrictions, up to 60 pages of an eBook can be printed or saved as a PDF.
After conducting a search and finding a book you want to read, follow the steps listed below to read an eBook online in your web browser:
Click on the title of the book to get into the book record (aka detailed record).
On the detailed record page beneath the title of the book (in the gray box at the top of the page), you'll see some options for ways to read the eBook. Click on either "Access Now (eBook)" or "Access Options" to open the file (see image below). "Access Now" will take you directly to a new tab where you can read the book. The "Access Options" dropdown allows you to choose between a PDF Full Text or EPUB Full Text version. Sometimes both options will be available, sometimes you may only be able to use one or the other.
After opening the file, use the table of contents on the right or the arrows on the bottom of the screen to navigate through the book (you can also use the scroll bar, but make sure it is the scrollbar for the book and not the table of contents).
